Michele Topor, C.B.

Michele began her career as a bookkeeper working for her father’s various companies and partnerships while attending Owens Community College for her accounting degree. After graduating with her associate degree, she continued her educational pursuits and became a Certified Bookkeeper in 2006. She continues to enjoy attending workshops and seminars in different areas of accounting such as payroll, income tax preparation, forensic accounting, auditing, sales tax, use tax and budgeting.

While working for her father and attending Owens Community College, Michele realized the immense need for competent, reliable, honest and professional bookkeepers in the Toledo area. In 1998, she began taking on additional clients and has continued to grow her practice to over 200 clients and five full-time bookkeepers.

Michele has a strong background in commercial property management and service related industries. She has extensive experience in start-up businesses and those companies that need to catch-up on months or even years of bookkeeping work. She has a knack for designing or re-designing bookkeeping systems that help owners take their businesses to greater levels. Using common sense as her greatest “weapon”, she loves to find new ways to take the work out of paperwork. Putting the client’s needs first has always been her philosophy. With a professional and friendly attitude, Michele makes the bookkeeping process understandable for clients. Her goal is to help business owners focus on their dollars and find ways to cut expenses and increase revenue while being able to enjoy life outside of their business.

Running Advanced Bookkeeping Concepts keeps Michele busy, but when she can, she enjoys boating and fishing on Lake Erie. Living on Lake Erie in Monroe, Michigan, gives Michele the opportunity to do her favorite activity–sitting by the water at home and relaxing with a good book. She also enjoys visiting her sister and her family in Indianapolis and visiting her father in Florida while he spends the winters there.

Blair Pearce, C. B.

Blair’s interest in accounting began at the age of 16 while attending St. Ursula Academy. Over the next few years, she handled the bookkeeping for a local business while attending college. Blair graduated from the University of Toledo in 2009 with an associate degree in accounting and she is a Certified Bookkeeper. She plans on continuing her education for her bachelor’s degree.

Blair joined Advanced Bookkeeping in July 2009, where she has made a great impact on the office. She brings over 18 years of experience to the team from her work with several local businesses. She also has extensive experience with a variety of computer programs and continues to teach us all how to improve our Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

On the weekends, Blair likes to teach horse riding to beginners and children at a local boarding facility. Although she doesn’t own a horse currently, she has a good reason for it. Blair is pregnant! We are all excited for her and can’t wait to welcome the new little addition to our family.

Blair enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephew, taking her dogs for walks, reading and spending time with family & friends.

Jan Burkett, C. B.

Jan joined Advanced Bookkeeping in June of 2009. Prior to joining our team, she worked for a steel corporation, a car wash/gas station, a housing developer, a Fortune 500 automotive supplier and a regional accounting firm. Working in various industries provided Jan with valuable experience that helps her serve a variety of clients. She is also a Certified Bookkeeper. Jan earned her associate degree in accounting at Owens Community College and graduated from the University of Phoenix with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Jan was fortunate to spend several years as a stay at home mom, being the ultimate soccer mom and volunteering at her children’s school and church activities. Now, Jan enjoys spending time with her daughter and three beautiful grandchildren. She spends her spare time reading, watching movies and walking her dog.

Deanna Doner

Deanna joined the Advanced Bookkeeping family in October 2013 and instantly found a home. She has over 25 years of bookkeeping experience, working with many different types of companies including a meat importer, a construction/home improvement company and a large manufacturing company. Deanna’s experience extends not only to the United States, but overseas as well. She is very knowledgeable in many computer software programs and shines in Sage Peachtree, QuickBooks, and all Microsoft Office products. Deanna is working toward her bachelor’s degree in accounting and becoming a Certified Bookkeeper.

Outside of work, Deanna is a mom, hockey mom and grandma. Deanna’s two daughters, Nicole and Natalie, are currently attending college in Michigan and Ohio respectively. Her son, Zachery, is graduating this year from Sylvania Northview. Deanna spends most of her free time in ice rinks supporting her son, who has payed hockey since the age of four. When Deanna is not in an ice rink, she enjoys camping, fishing and relaxing at home with her husband George, and their two black labs, Hunter and Dakota.

Anita McWatters

Anita is the newest team member at Advanced Bookkeeping and is quickly becoming part of the family. Anita joined us after managing the office for several years at a local accounting and tax firm.

After graduating from Owens Community College with an associate degree in computer programming, she was hired at a local convention center. There, she streamlined their accounting procedures for their catering business and learned the all-important role of being an office manager.

Anita likes to visit her daughter, who lives in New York, and her son, who lives in Iowa. She has another son who will graduate from high school in 2017, which keeps her busy with lots of high school activities. In her spare time, Anita likes to craft fabulous baked goods, read Stephen King novels and watch movies of any kind.

Amy Austin

Amy joined Advanced Bookkeeping in April of 2012, with a brief period of time away before rejoining us in February 2017.  Before working for Advanced Bookkeeping, Amy worked in the accounting field in many different industries and locations, including internationally, as she followed her husband around the world during his 25-year Air Force career.  She has worked for the federal government, a private government contract agency, in the insurance industry, the business department of a school district, and at a marketing research company. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland.

Volunteering in her community is important to Amy.  She has held many positions, including Rossford Athletic Boosters Treasurer, Rossford American Legion Post 533 Treasurer.  She currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Bulldog Touchdown Club and is a current board member of The Bulldog Foundation.

Along with Amy’s husband serving in the US Air Force for 25 years, she has three sons, two of which are active duty Air Force, and one attends THE Ohio State University on an Air Force ROTC scholarship.  Her all-time favorite activity is travelling to visit her sons, daughter-in-law and grandson.  Amy enjoys hiking – she’s hiked several sections of the Appalachian Trail, the Adirondacks, Sedona, Arizona and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.   Amy and her husband are also avid campers, golfers, bowlers and concert-goers.  She’s an animal lover and has two dogs, Archer and Louie, and one cat that thinks he’s a dog, Apollo.

Jennie Hunt

Jennie joined Advance Bookkeeping family after relocating from Texas in 2017; where she worked for a CPA Firm for almost 5 years. Over the past 30 years she has worked as an assistant controller of a large manufacturing company, Tax Manager of 30+ Tax Offices for national chain, to being a managing partner in an accounting / tax preparation firm for 10 years.

Jennie has always had a love for people, taxes and numbers for as long as she can remember; so it was no surprise when she want to study financial management. Jennie has a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Managerial Accounting and Minor in Business. Jennie and her Husband have been together since they were 15 years old. They have 2 grown boys, 1 daughter in law, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter whom all live where there were raised in Washington State. Their baby girl who is a freshman in college signed to play softball for ABU in West Virginia her junior year of High School. Ohio seemed like a great central location to be able to drive to most her games played in the Great Midwest Conference.

At the empty-nester stage of life; Robert & Jennie decided that after 47 long term foster / exchange students, no longer coaching sports or being a part of PTA. They got an English Bull Dog, born in June 2017. They have a baby again!!!!
